The founding of Unite Talent

Our core values were never invented; they are a natural part of who we are and how we present ourselves every day to job seekers, clients, and partners.

I grew up with a down-to-earth mindset in Blijham, a small village in Groningen. At seventeen, I joined the military, where I learned to push boundaries, show discipline, and persevere, lessons that shaped me and still form the foundation of my work today.

After my time in the military, a very different adventure followed: Hotelschool. It took me to London and South Africa, and also brought me into contact with Coen Stolker, now Partner at Unite Talent. Together, we discovered the true essence of service: hospitality, attention, and genuine care for people.

Not long after, I entered the world of recruitment at a global market leader. That’s where I found my passion: Being rewarded for effort, and growing through performance. It became the perfect foundation for Unite Talent.

Today, we continue to build on that foundation. For us, recruitment is more than making connections, we see ourselves as ambassadors. With our Impact Method, we go beyond the standard job description and tell the real story of each company: authentic, powerful, and recognizable.

From an early age, I worked in hospitality, where I learned the true value of hard work and authentic service. I discovered how to anticipate people’s needs and go the extra mile, lessons that I have carried into recruitment. I quickly realized that this approach is far from common in recruitment, and it’s precisely these qualities that make me stand out.

Understanding what a client truly needs and responding effectively is where hospitality and recruitment intersect. Just as I once made an evening unforgettable through exceptional service, I now achieve the same by quickly identifying the core of a request and delivering the right solution. It’s still about people and building lasting relationships, just on a different playing field.

The partnership Benjamin and I share is one of our greatest strengths. We’ve known each other since our student days and have worked together in recruitment for years, allowing us to anticipate each other seamlessly and leverage each other’s strengths.

With our fresh approach to recruitment, we place a strong focus on Employer Branding and genuine client care. This is how we demonstrate that things can be done differently: with more empathy, understanding, and always putting the client first. This is what Unite Talent stands for, and with our renewed proposition, we bring that vision fully to life.

EA Scheer – The pioneer behind our Impact approach

“EA Scheer has been active in the world of Rum, Cachaça, and Batavia Arrack since 1712. With over three centuries of experience, we have built a unique position as an international rum supplier. From our blending warehouse in Amsterdam, we manage hundreds of types of rum from more than 40 countries and distilleries, carefully selecting them to create tailor-made rum blends. These blends reach a diverse range of customers worldwide: from aspiring rum entrepreneurs to international brands seeking a distinctive rum profile of consistent quality that can be ordered quickly and easily.

When a vacancy arose within our Finance department, Coen and Benjamin presented their innovative approach. Their concept, using a recruitment video, immediately appealed to us. It proved to be a powerful tool to convey the unique ‘Scheer feeling’ to potential candidates in an authentic and attractive way.
